What this site is
Graham Plumbing Guides is an information resource: a plain-English guide to residential plumbing in Sydney. It explains services, describes suburbs and regions, and gives practical advice on the situations households run into, from a blocked toilet to choosing a hot water system.
It is not a plumbing business. We do not take bookings or dispatch plumbers through this website, we do not give quotes, and nothing here should be read as an offer of plumbing, drainage or gas work.
A note about the name
The name and web address were previously used by a working Sydney plumbing business. This site is a separate project. It is not that business, does not speak for it, and is not a continuation of it. If you were looking for a trade business, you are in the wrong place, and the contact page explains where to look instead.
How the guides are written
Every page is written to be useful to a homeowner or renter who is about to make a decision, or is stuck in the middle of a problem. A few principles shape the writing.
- Safety first. Where a step could be dangerous, the guide says so first and says when to stop. Gas, electricity and hot water systems are treated conservatively.
- Licensed work stays licensed. In NSW, much plumbing, drainage and gas work is regulated. The guides point toward a licensed tradesperson and the NSW Fair Trading licence check instead of encouraging do-it-yourself shortcuts.
- No invented numbers. Prices, wages and statistics change and vary widely, so the guides describe what influences them in qualitative terms and point to official sources to check current figures.
- General, not personal. Suburb pages describe typical housing and the issues that tend to come with it. They are not an assessment of your property, which only someone who inspects it can give.
- Nobody is recommended. The site does not name, rank or refer plumbing companies.
What you will find here

Who the guides are for
Homeowners deciding whether a problem is urgent, renters working out what to tell a landlord, strata owners trying to find out whose pipe it is, and anyone who wants to be a better-informed customer when they do hire a tradesperson. The writing assumes no plumbing knowledge, and it explains jargon whenever it is something you will hear on site.
What good sources look like
When a topic depends on rules, prices or schemes, the guides send you to the body that owns the answer: NSW Fair Trading for licences, Sydney Water for the public network, the Fair Work Ombudsman for pay, and energy agencies for rebates. Treat any website, including this one, as a starting point, and confirm important details at the source.
Using the information well
These pages are general information, not professional advice, and they may become out of date as rules, schemes and products change. Check anything that matters with the relevant authority, and always rely on a licensed professional who has seen your property before you act on regulated work.
There is no contact channel on this site, so we cannot take corrections or questions. If something looks wrong or out of date, rely on the official source it points to.
